About Us

Situated in the fast-growing Perth northern suburb of Jindalee, McRae Fitness is a family owned 24/7 gym with a high standard of equipment and a good dose of soul.  The supportive community atmosphere makes McRae Fitness a gym where each member feels empowered to reach their fitness goals no matter whether they are just starting out on their fitness journey, a seasoned gym goer or a serious body builder.

The gym is stocked with modern strength and cardio equipment from well-known brands such as Technogym and Hammer Strength, but it is the care, attention and guidance members receive from the staff that really sets McRae Fitness apart.  As McRae Fitness is privately owned rather than being part of a franchise, members are afforded personal treatment. Included in memberships are appraisal and follow-up programs that will assist members to get the right start in obtaining their goals, and during manned hours, staff are on the gym floor to give guidance.

There are membership packages to suit almost every situation such as FIFO, corporate, family, student, senior, casual, six months and twelve-month options, and also zero contract options. McRae Fitness is also equipped with a crèche that operates during weekday mornings, there’s plenty of parking and after hours secure access.

As a small business, McRae Fitness recognises the importance of retaining good staff and as such, prides itself on creating a secure, rewarding and fun workplace. Personal Trainers are on hand to help with training techniques and tips during staffed hours. Staff are given the opportunity to keep their health and fitness knowledge current through continued training and education.

The team at McRae Fitness look forward to being a part of your health and fitness goals.

Tara McRae

After 20 years of working as a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist, taking care of the bodies of clientele which included elite athletes, a back injury led Tara to discover her passion for understanding the physiology and biomechanics of the human body.

The transformation in overall health that Tara experienced through strength training and nutrition spurred her on to undertake studies in Sports Nutrition and to become a qualified personal trainer through Fitness Australia.

Tara can often be found on the gym floor using her knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and motivation to inspire McRae Fitness members to reach their health goals.

“I am proud of the community feel that McRae Fitness has and hope it encourages people who normally feel intimidated by a gym environment to feel comfortable and supported. That support comes not only from our staff but also from our more experienced members who are often happy to share their experiences.”

Tara is married to Alister and they have two children.

Alister McRae

Rallying is an extreme test of endurance, and a lapse in both physical and mental fitness can mean disaster for both driver and co-driver.  Alister McRae has been competing in motorsport since the age of twelve, and has won British Championships, Asia-Pacific Championship and competed in the World Rally Championship for various manufacturers.

His job has taken him to some of the most extreme environments in the world and with over 20 years competing professionally Alister knows the importance of keeping physically fit and tailoring training to suit your goals.

Owning McRae Fitness along with Tara enables Alister to share his knowledge of what it takes to be at the top of your field. Not only does he train at McRae Fitness, he motivates members to reach their fitness goals and maintain a high level of fitness in order to succeed in their chosen pursuits.

When he’s not travelling to compete in motorsport events, Alister’s training regime is a combination of cycling and weight lifting. When he’s away from home, Alister runs and does bodyweight bearing exercises.

Alister has a hunger to succeed and with that, a determination to be as physically and mentally prepared for competition as he can.

When it comes to success in motorsport, preparation, maintenance and anticipation are paramount. Alister applies that same philosophy to his business.
